Scout Guide by Nome

Monday, September 28th, 2009

I’m well-aware that this is the last hero most players think they need help with, but in fact, it’s one of the most misplayed heroes in the game. This is perhaps the only hero that can go 10-0 and not contribute whatsoever to the team. Nearly every Scout I’ve played with and against has somehow managed to achieve an amazing kill-death ratio, yet has no useful items, and is still a piece of paper when he gets caught with a single disable. This guide is specifically for the discerning Scout player who wishes to forgo the kill-stealing aspect of the hero and become a true team player.

HoN Beta Invite Contest

Monday, September 28th, 2009

Update: We are now offering a beta invite key giveaway.

If you would like to be part of the growing community of closed beta testers for Heroes of Newerth (DotA inspired), look no further. I am currently running a simple contest from September 28th through the 29th. All you need to do to enter is visit our heroes page and read a few bios. Once you’ve done that simply come up write a short story (can be very short if it works) and send it via our contact form. The top 15 that are interesting, funny, dramatic or epic (as in epic adventure) will be invited to the HoN beta. Just be sure to putHon Beta Contestin the subject.  Don’t be intimidated by the task, as I am not sure how many people will actually take the time to do this. Happy writing!

Soulstealer guide by Glorify

Monday, September 28th, 2009

Introduction
I was unhappy with the guide written currently in the premium guides for the hero soulstealer, it states it’s meant for higher levels of play but it doesn’t touch much on a lot of the advanced aspects you should know and expect when playing with the hero. Sure, obviously you’d expect players playing in high levels of play to know these things, but from what I’ve run into in even very high levels of HoN play is astounding to say the least. Some things I’ll be touching on are as follows:
-Basic lane control
-Optimal warding positions
-Basic skill usage
-Advanced bottle techniques

This is not a right click hero, he requires good positioning and map awareness to effectively use your skills and survive in competitive play. He has amazing potential for late game damage and early game lane control, but suffers low hitpoints and no escape mechanism. On top of that, if ganked, you’re basically inviting the enemies to push down towers or raxes due to an inability to defend after losing souls.

HoN Items Guide

Monday, September 28th, 2009

This is a great guide for HoN items and their DotA relatives. Heroes of Newerth presents many new items that may not be easily recognizable by DotA players and certainly not by new players. It is recommended that you that you take a scan through and if you are looking for a familiar DotA item, simply search this guide.

Electrician Guideby Trainingday

Friday, September 25th, 2009

Skills: Learns Static Grip, Energy Shield, Energy Absorption, Cleansing Shock

Disclaimer:
Although I originally intended my Soulstealer guide to be my last guide, after heavy analysis on Electrician’s skills, as well as in-game tests, I have finally concluded that Electrician is one of the strongest heroes atm. He is one of the most reliable picks, and although I want to hide my knowledge of this hero’s unknown strengths, it is in the best interest of the community to make them known.
