Night Hound Guide

Sunday, October 11th, 2009

So, Night Hound, with Scout taken for granted to be a superior choice is almost always badly misunderstood. This hero is not a hard carry and the only thing he has in common with the Scout is that they are both invisible most of the time. That’s it. They fill completely different roles and play completely different games. Since they are both only truly viable in low-mid skill games i prefer to pick Night Hound because he comes online much earlier then Scout and I generally own both Scout and Pest with him. Now, how do I manage to accomplish this seemingly impossible feat?

Role

Wraith is an unique hero with the ability to cross any sort of terrain on the map, while having the ability to teleport to any enemy hero by using his ultimate.Thusly, He excels at taking down weaker opponents, while supporting the team with damage.

He is a carry; good damage output and great chasing, but loses in direct confrontations with other straightforward carries. His best way of supporting the team is still through obtaining damage orientated items.

In late-game, after you have gotten your core, he can also obtain a semi-tanking role by combining health items with his damage-reflecting skill.

Magmus Guide

Thursday, October 8th, 2009

Author: Padawanabee

Introduction

Magmus is a powerful and often misused hero. He’s part of a select group of heroes with powerful AoE ultimates with long cooldowns who all have Portal Key in their core. He also has a slightly above average str gain and two skills to use as an escape mechanism, making him harder to kill than most heroes.

He hovers somewhere between supporter and ganker. He isn’t the traditional hard carry who spends 40 minutes in the woods. But between incredible pushing power combined with good escape mechanisms, and an ult that decides team fights, a good Magmus can decide the game for his team.

He’s a direct port of Sand King from DotA. And while his story always made me think he should have been named Lavos, his lava effects look pretty sweet.

The Big Hero Guide – Updated for 1.47

My own notes: Im going to overlook the Boots area. Personally i dont think that Steam Boots are junk. The Boots Changes reminds me alot of how Dota used to be before the introduction of Phase Boots (old enhanced marchers), 6.49-6.54. Back then Casters could get Steam Boots for fast stats to add to their survivability. Same principels here. Attack speed bonus gone, but the boot is cheaper and faster, and gives more stats. I consider them to be pretty good boots. New Enhanced Marchers are however very good due to their big increase of MS. Keep in mind that the IAS bonus isnt that good in late game. You are fast with them but more squishy. Post Haste are very strong and can be used for every hero if you have good farm and the game is low on action in early game.

Magebane Guide by dreamex

Tuesday, October 6th, 2009

A keeper of lost lore and a priest to forgotten gods, Magebane invokes unholy rituals to drain the energy of his enemies and turn it back against them. In less desperate times, heretics such as Magebane would have been burned at the stake, but this is not the first unexpected clemency brought about by the war against the Hellbourne.

Glacius Guide by TinyBlkTears

Monday, October 5th, 2009

Disclaimer:
Glacius is an incredibly straightfoward hero. Crystal Maiden (the dota equivalent) was probably my strongest hero when I played competitively, so after reading this guide, all my knowledge of this hero will be passed on to you. That’s all there is to it.

This guide is meant to be straightforward and to the point. I will not go over basic skills like last hitting and ward placement, however, you can refer to Nome’s guide on warding by following this link http://forums.heroesofnewerth.com/showthread.php?t=4839
