Introduction:

Rampage is a recently added hero to the game. He represents Spirit Breaker for those of you who played Dota. He is an extremely fast, highly damage, stun based hero. In this guide you will see a nice point of view on how to play this hero depending on opposition, what builds you should go for – and all the characteristics of a hero guide.

Skills

Abilities:

Stampede
Rampage points out a target to his rhino, starting a Stampede that slowly builds in speed and power, ultil reaching the target and stunning them.

Mana Cost: 120
Applies Stampede to self. Gaining 1 charge every 4 seconds. Gains Magic Immunity at 3 charges. When Rampage reaches his target he stuns for 1 / 1.5 / 2 / 2.5 seconds.

See Immage below:

As you can see, it gives unit walking + walking through tree’s. I picked a correct path to charge so Magmus didn’t know I was coming.

Might of the Herd
The rhino Rampage rides on is a born leader, enhancing the movement speed of any nearby allies and giving Rampage more damage the faster he moves

Passive Bonus:
+1 Damage per charge

+2/4/6/8

Aura Affect:
Grants 4 / 8 / 12 / 16% of Rampages movement speed in damage.

Horned Strike
There is a chance that Rampage’s Rhino unleashes a devastating Horned Strike when he begins an attack, doing bonus damage and pushing an enemy backwards.

On Attack Impact:
17% chance of attack to stun and push back the target 140/180/220/260 units over 0.95/1.15/1.35/1.55 seconds deadling 25/50/75/100 bonus magic damage.

Favor of Sol
Rampage, Favored by Sol, calls upon his power to move so quickly he instantly appears next to an enemy hero of his choosing, dealing damage and pushing them back.

Cooldown: 80 seconds
Mana Cost: 200 / 250 / 300
Moves Rampage next to his target after a 1 second delay dealing 100 / 200 / 300 bonus magic damage and performing a level 4 horned strike.

Below you can see how Favor of Sol performs:

Pro’s and Cons

***Pro’s***

  • Easy to dominate your lane if playing against non double stun/slow combo
  • Fastest hero ingame (Passive speed)
  • Easy to escape on low HP due to speed
  • Very large hero, good for blocking enemy heroes
  • Aura of speed for allied heroes is a plus
  • Very good for last hit/denying due to his large base damage
***Cons***

  • Large cooldowns on both active abilities
  • More to be added
Ability Levelling:

Levelling abilities is quite easy with this one. Start with

1: Might of the Herd
2: Horned Strike
3: Stampede
4: Might of the Herd
5: Stampede
6: Favor of Sol

Generally get Might of the Herd up first as it boosts speed and + Damage and is the most useful start game. Horned strike follows as it’s pretty handy with harrassing. Make sure you have Stampede levelled at least once before level 6.

Items

All but the starting items here are for general games. I will add more specific items and builds with more experience I have playing with and against Rampage.

Starting Items:

At the very start of a game I always start with the same two items regardless of the enemy lineup.

Marchers (500) Runes of the Blight (90)

As you start the first ability levelled should be Might of the Herd so boots will give you a starting +damage of ~14. This will make denying and last hitting so much easier, also harrasing heroes. Boots are optional, you can on the other hand build like this:

Runes will keep you going until you sustain enough gold to start building more items. Next up will be

Iron Buckler (250) then eventually Helm of the Black Legion (2225)

I believe it’s quite useful for when you charge and reach the hero you’re aiming for – Enemy creeps will start attacking you. And Charge is something you’ll be doing quite often.

Steamboots (1490)

This is definately my pick of boots for Rampage. It’s some easy stats and HP. Also faster than The Marchers for the + passive damage.

OR

Enhanced Marchers (1500)

Some people prefer these to the steamboots for the speed boost. But speedboots obly give 4+ higher damage that the steamboots when used. So for this reason I wouldn’t choose them myself. I wouldn’t totally rule them out as unit walking is still useful when charge is on cooldown.

Core Items:

Elder Parasite (1900)

This is my alternative to Daemonic Breastplate, if gold is tight and it’s an extremely close game – I’ll get this instead. On another note. If you wish to spend less time at base this is still a very good item to go for.

Next up is a must for Rampage:

Staff of the Master (4300)

This reduces to cooldown of Favor of Sol from 80 to 20 seconds. It’s quite insane – making Rampage a knockback, stunning Machine.

Insanitarius (2850)

This item is pretty nice, but I would not be getting this without some form of lifesteal. This with an Elder Parasite is a very nice combo.

Late Game Items:

There are a number of suitable items for Rampage Late game. This in my opinion is one of the most optimal:

Daemonic Breastplate (5550)

This Item can be quite insane with Horned Strike. I’ve went almost permastunning heroes with this item, if you’re playing well and cashed up – I’d strongly suggest this.

Behemoth’s Heart (5500)

Late game, can be quite useful for the HP and regen – especially if playing against high damage heroes light Scout or Magebane.

Other Suitable Items:

Shaman’s Headdress (2050)

If opposing high magic damage teams this item I would easily recomment. Rampage may be fast but if you run into, example Defiler/Torturer you can be taken down in seconds.

Shieldbreaker (4400)

Decent when playing against high armored heroes such as Armaddon.

Shrunken Head (3900)

Sometimes this isn’t neccesary but it’s nice against large AoE or stun teams. Especially ones with Tempest for example.

Builds:

Build 1:

This is the insane burst build. With this, you can gank extremely easily – almost any hero without leap or invis is screwed. This is absolutely optimal if you have Tempest on your team. The burst damage of Insanitarius with Elder Parasite. Shrunken Head should be popped at the same time as Insan and Elder. Go for Daemonic Breastplate last – this build requires some serious farming so only with minimal deaths will this be all aquired. Even with – you more than likely won’t get to finish the Breastplate.

Build 2:

This build is for matches against high armored heroes. Armaddon, Legionnaire and the likes. I’ve replaced marchers with steam boots here for chasing, as with heroes like Pebbles(With Daemonic breastplate) can toss you, legionnaire taunts creeps and other tough heroes have a means of getting you the other side of creeps while they escape. This build is also extremely useful with Demented Shaman or Pestilence as shield breaker means you annhialate pretty much anything.

Build 3:

Build 4:

Gameplay

How to: Use abilities

Ok so by now you can see Rampage has two active abilities. These two must be timed properly for Maximum potential. Otherwise you’re left with two long cooldowns and nothing but a white hit.

Stampede is best used from base so you can go directly down a lane without getting spotted by an enemy. If you use it inappropriately and run across a lane with enemy creeps or heroes it will give your enemy a chance to TP back to base.

When you’re going to arrive 4+ seconds after a gank starts – you should pick their tank or some soak hero on the other team that isn’t going to be dead before you arrive. You don’t want to waste the cooldown on a hero that’s dead when you’re only half way there.

Favor of Sol is an amazing ability. However – it should be used carefully. Never start a fight with this. Hit the opposing hero as much as possible before he starts to run as you may land a Horned Strike. This means more hitting time. Only when the hero is out of range and you’re sure he is going to escape, should you use it.

Laning, creeping and Harrassing:

As always, try to avoid the usual combo’s that lead to you gaining little last hits or deny’s – Such as Puppet/Swiftblade, Predator/Slither etc.

When you get your Iron Buckler it’s safe to start harrassing, one thing to always do against a ranged hero when close to your tower is this: Right click to attack the hero when close to the creeps then move back. The creeps will then try attack you and end up on the opposite side closer the tower. This makes harrassing alot easier, when you start attacking the creeps don’t reach you in time to do any damage.

Know your enemy. Do not start harrassing a hero that will leave you stunned with 4/5 creeps bleeding your HP. Keep an eye on mana and cooldowns of your opposing hero. It’s safe to use Stampede if you’re combo’d with a stun or slow hero, and in most cases, will get you a kill.

Creeping is self explanitory here – you can soak a hit per creep you kill. By the time your Blight’s are gone you will have a Life Tube.

Hero Combinations:

Legionnaire

In my experience this is so far is one of the best heroes to combo with. You provide legionnaire with the + movement speed so if he starts with boots – Taunting is a guarantee. It’s a very nice way to get Bloodlust

Armaddon

Armaddons slow here is just sick. The slow + movement speed aura just makes it hot, even when laning against slowing combo’s such as Slither/Predator.

Pharoah

Pharoah’s ministun leaves your enemy on a silver platter here. Definately a nice one

Demented Shaman

Again, the slowing of the enemy + your movement speed aura is really nice. Demented Shamans heal also makes him a very viable partner.

Pollywog Priest

With shackles and disable, this combo can be devastating

Slither

Slithers slow and passive Dotting here is quite hard to escape. Definately one worth trying.

Succubus

She works well with almost everyone, including Rampage.

Glacius

Same as above, works extremely well with double stun + Slow.

Devourer

Rot slow + Movement speed. Need I say more?

Maliken

His sword slow gives you plenty of time for a Horned proc, if that fails you have charge and favor.

Video’s of Rampage:

Will be added when the feature becomes available!

============

I’d like to say a big thanks to Nuro for his amazing Accursed Guide in which I used his template. (I suck at making things look nice :P )

All comments are very much appreciated. I don’t yet have an immage of Rampage – if someone has one or is kind enough to get me one it would be great! Constructive critisism is welcome.

This guide is under construction, more items are to be added, and the content is to be beefed up alot more, so please bare with me.

I hope you enjoyed the read.

Kind Regards,

Syrex
